Dear Friends,
This great looking rider is my Mom! At 84 years old with a significant scoliosis of her spine and neuropathy from chemotherapy she looks amazing and loves to ride! This picture was taken a couple of weeks ago during her therapeutic riding lesson with instructor, Kimberly Gleason, at Charleston Area Therapeutic Riding, Johns Island, SC, where I have been the Executive Director for 19 years. Mom started riding with CATR 4 years ago and reflects so much of what makes therapeutic riding wonderful for all our students; mobility, confidence, independence and joy!
Charleston Area Therapeutic Riding is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year! We are proud of the many lives we have made better though riding and working with horses…from public school children in special education classes, to children with rare degenerative diseases, to adults recovering from a stroke, to wounded military veterans…they all have been lifted up and moved forward on the back of a CATR therapy horse!
I hope you will join me to celebrate CATR’s achievements by attending our ‘In the Company of Horses’ event on Sunday, April 10th! If you are too far away, please consider supporting CATR’s programs with a 25th Anniversary gift!
All the best & thank you,
Murray
